A Genius Was Born - Entry #1

On March 11 1922, Dato' Hussein bin Mohd Taib and Hajah Teh Fatimah were blessed with the birth of their first child, Abdul Razak. He was born in Pekan, Pahang Darul Makmur. Being of aristocratic descent, he received his high school education at Malay College Kuala Kangsar. In 1940, he was awarded the Raffles College scholarship for his constant excellence in studies, after joining the Malay Administrative Service a year before then. However, he went through a pause in his college life due to the scenario of The Second World War. On the other hand, he did not let his waiting go to waste. During the onset of the war, he had helped in organizing the Wataniah resistance movement in his beloved state, Pahang. After the Second World War wrapped, Tun Razak left for Britain in 1947, to pursue his love for the law studies. He finally received his law degree and got himself qualified as barrister at Lincoln's Inn in London. Tun Razak was also a member of British Labour Party during his student days. Apart from that, he was also Malay Association Great Britain's student leader. A little ways down the road, he managed to form the Malayan Forum, which is the association where Malay students go about to discuss Malaysia's political issues. Tun Abdul Razak's education background made him a distinguish leader.

New Economic Policy - Entry #2

Led by Tun Abdul Razak, the government was able to form a National Operations Council (NOC) during the rise of the riots, when the government declared a state of national emergency and also suspended Parliament. The stated goal of the plan was to eventually eradicate poverty among races, especially the Malays. The implementation of the NEP was one of NOC's first executive decisions. Through a vigorously developing state of the economy, the government was trying to reduce the non-Malay share in the economy under approximate conditions, in return with absolute terms. After the Parliament was renewed in 1971, Tun Abdul Razak officially became our country's second Prime Minister.

Making Amendments - Entry #3

To eliminate the identification of ethnicity with economic function, NEP set a clear goal of eradicating poverty and restructuring the economy. According to Tun Abdul Razak, one of the things that could be done was to redistribute the wealth to increase the citizens' ownership especially the Bumiputeras. Besides redistributing the number of wealth, the other goal was to increase the economic growth. While encouraging the growth of non-Bumiputera business, commerce and trade interests in absolute terms, this economic growth would allow the non-Bumiputera ownership or share in the economy to decrease, simultaneously. Bumiputera's share would increase without outnumbering the share of non-Bumiputera's. This proved just how brilliant Tun Abdul Razak back then at handling the slight downfall of the economy. Applause !

The NEP, the Trend Setter. - Entry #4

The New Economic policy was being implemented through quite a number of Malaysia Plans. As a matter of fact, our country is still basing on it, to present. Tun Abdul Razak came to govern Malaysia with a clear approach. This man was the first to promote, explain and defend this policy, at the same time work out and implement it. Back then, the economy desperately needed to be developed and maintained. On the bright side, his efforts were perceived positively because there were no political interests involved. His main objectives were purely to mend our country's economy and educate the minds' of Malaysian in improving their state of economy.

"Bapa Pembangunan" - Entry #5

Malaysia became what it is today for no other apparent reason but the efforts of our second Prime Minister. Without Tun Abdul Razak's pioneering efforts, we would not have had the opportunity to even get a glimpse of what comfort looks like. If it was not because of his existence, God knows what would happen to our country. Many of our agriculture activities and manufacturing industries were his contributions. Tun Abdul Razak was the person who managed to mould the developments of the nation through his frame of work. He assured everyone that poverty in the country could be escaped and The NEP proved his point. This is the breakthrough none of us Malaysian can be thankful enough for. As a leader and a Malaysian himself, he distinctively understood the need to be aware of playing the most vital role in reshaping our country. He will forever be, our Bapa Pembangunan. (':
